The Bone Incident

We had a good long walk and came home to find a mouse in the wood piled by the stove, at least I found it and set a trap and got the little guy about 1/2 an hour later. So upon releasing the little fellow onto the snow with in fighting of brush for survival I let him out. He hesitated a few seconds as did Niko and then scampered off. I'm sure Niko did not see it until it moved. So Niko standing six feet away could not catch it in the threee feet it had to convient hole in the ground/brush/duff. While Eddie looked on in puzzzlement and Niko pre-occupied by the hole the mouse emerged and snuck around teh back of the tree and across the snow again to safety. Eddie finally got with the program and sniffed around realizing waht was happening. Niko and Eddie were good little hunting buddeis for a while. I had call Eddie from about 100 feet up the trail but he came running.

after waling a bit Niiko started do his prance and growl play stance for Eddie but eddie back and lifted his lip. this happenend three times. Nikos paly growl does not sound all that playful and since Eddie could not really see his stance was playful he took a half hearted growl. that happend three times and I brought out the treats to distract Niko since he can be quite adement at times and if Eddie didn't realize it was paly and responded in fear aggression who knows what would have happened. I did get a glimpse the possible outcome a while later During the bone incident.
