sound and distance

We just went for a walk and heard some coyotes far off and Niko was acting like something was close by down by the creek. Tensions are already a bit high from our earlier walk this afternoon when heard far off SuperBowl festivities and had curtailed our jaunt. I put Niko on a leash and we proceeded home. Eddie seemed very interested in the leash and changed his positoins several times while walking to check it out... vision or echolocation or both... it was dark but for a sliver of moon and my LED headlight. Anyway he soon settled down although could not walk in his normal postion behind niko since I was there. Niko and I went up onto the deck and listened to the canyon noises. Eddie joined us breiefly a minute later but when I turned he started to leave. I turned back and he soon returned and settled into the bean bag bed behind me. I turned and went inside and he left again. I went out a bit later and stood for a while until he settled onto his bed again and upon my going inside he remained.
After focusing on sound and echolocation I have started to realize a few things. the nylon jacket I have been wearing most of the time since Eddie arrived really noisy. I'm going to switch of my all cotton and quiet Carhardt hoody which is what I wore almost everyday when visiting him in the pound. I think also that by maintianing a larger distance from me when near the house he is saying that he likes me and the place but not the house. Dogs I have noticed tend to move toward what they like and move away from things, sounds, situations, people, etc they dislike.
I am so impressed by this quys negotiating skills . I'm realizing now how I'm completely out gunned I am. I can only hope Barak Obama is as good a negoiator as Eddie. I think the guy is going to force the issue of a new computer. The stupid old windows machine I have can be heard throughout the house becuase of poor acustics. I guess its time for an iMac. It is fast and sleek and high performance compared to my five year old machine which at the time I built it was pretty hot. If I had more time I'd sic Eddie on Steve Jobs to negotiate a deal on the good iMac. The iMac is an impressive machine. It has no fans and clearly outclasses PC's in Most ways that are important to me, and more importantly Eddie since it is completely quiet.
Once they setteld on the deck I snuck aroud through the garge and closed the gate to the deck. They both got up more to say lets go check things out then to object to gate closure. I'm gald now to be able to close the gate so easily, mainly to keep Niko from chasing coyotes at night. I hope and thnk Eddie has understood that he can leave and Ill open the gate almost when ever he wants.
