the question of sound

I think the question of sound is the key since I'm sure he is much more reliant on his ears than his eyes for "seeing the world". My house has lots of large flat surfaces. so It might be for Eddie a bit like snow blindness. Like being in horribly brightly lighted room and unable to close your eyes. Not so much the loudness but the the loudness combined with the unrelentlessness. I have very load desktop machine which has five fans. I got onto this train of thought after observing his behavior after I first banged a piece of firewood on the deck... not super load but louder than the monistary like standards I'm trying to adopt. He disappered but came 3/4 of the way down the dirveway and stopped about 75 feet away. That seems to be the distance he asumes when he is tressed. Then on teh wya home from our walk he settled into his little burrow by the snow plow turn-around tree. Niko and I wited but he would not come with us, and got up and moved in teh other direction when I came closer about 20 feet. The thing that agrevated the firewood bang was my brushing the dog hair off the nylon dog bed from the truck, which ahd loots of hair. I saw hime watching me do this. Even thoght I took pains to let him see me, I don't think he make out what I was doing. What he was some vigorous movent (ny brushing) and some sort of slapping brushing sounds for a bout two minutes. I'm not sure how much he dtuck around for. I find that going for walks is a good way to communicate good will and relief stress by joining a common purpose.. the walk..you know smell stuff.

He finally did come after walking away form him with sad gait and shuffling a bit. a few minutes latre when I whistled for him He came. I was going to head up the road along the creek. Eddie clsoe to me but wary and Niko sat in the driveway. after milf coaxing he remained fixed at which point Eddie joined him and sat down. Ok out voted and I anyway I was tired of walking and cold.

Now Eddie is on the deck somewhere but I can't see in the dark as I type this. He hs not come over tothe bean-bag bed as at this mornings typing, but He thought about it once or twice and sounds lke he is on the gate threshold
